Get a Focused Start on your YouTube Channel

09/29/2022

Using video as part of marketing helps businesses increase brand awareness, traffic and sales within your Maltese target market. And what better video platform is there other than YouTube? This is the second largest search engine on the internet, right after Google, with 2.6 billion monthly active users worldwide.

A lot of competition is out there so in order to stay on top you have to hit the ground running with this platform. Here's what you need to do:

Get all your Basics Right

Like on any other social platform you want your brand to be recognizable, so be consistent with your branding. Sticking to your brand colors and art can help users who already follow you on other platforms recognize you. Also a detailed but concise 'About' section on your channel can go a long way and always make sure that your contact information is up to date. You want to make it easy for potential customers to reach out to you.

Identify your Market Niche

Optimisation is always essential in any marketing strategy. So, you need to identify your target market before deciding what your next move is. The same thing happens on YouTube - you need to first identify your target audience, after all your videos are not meant for everyone so why waste resources? Check out other channels similar to yours, see who their followers are, scout your competition's followers and if you already have some video content up use analytics to see which are your best hits.

Research is Key

Ranking on YouTube is essential, especially if you are targeting to increase engagement. This helps show your content to users who haven't subscribed to your channels yet, but in order for your videos to rank you need to do some research. Check out what keywords relate to your video content most, make sure they are as specific to your target market as can be, and include these in your metadata.

Trick of the Trade

On YouTube the ultimate goal is to be recommended and to be the first on the list of related videos on the right hand side of the screen. To increase your chances, find out which video is most popular within your niche market, and make sure that your MetaData is similar to that video.

Spread the Word

Share your content over all of the other platforms you've got because you want your followers on other platforms to subscribe to your channel. The more subscribers the wider the spread of your content. Don't just post the whole video on other channels! Instead create posts that hint to it or even better some short teasers that will entice your followers to go to your channel to see the whole thing.
